Vikram Sarabhai is the father of the Indian space program. He was the person who consistently worked for Indian space programs. The government of India established the Indian National Committee for Space Research under the department of atomic energy in 1962. Vikram Sarabhai was the first Chairman of (INCOSPAR) succeded by ISRO.
Son of Ambalal Sarabhai, who was a committed freedom fighter and major industrialist. Mrinalini wah his wife and he had two children Mallika daughter and Kartikeya Sarabhai Son. Throughout his life, he practiced Jainism. Today on his 100th birthday Google has the doodle for Vikram Sarabhai.
He established physical Research Laboratory in 1947 at his residence, to research on cosmic rays. He helped to set up many eminent institutions like the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad ( IIM-A), the Ahmedabad Textile Industry’s Research Association (ATIRA) and Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL). Sarabhai started a project for the fabrication of the Indian satellite. That helped to put the first Indian satellite( Aryabhata) in orbit in 1975.
From Small Step to Giant leap
As it was said that for a great achievement, a small step is necessary, it is true in the case of ISRO. The initiative was taken by Vikram Sarabhai is now world know space agency. Russia Launched the first satellite fo India in 1975 and today India became self-sufficient. The journey from Aryabhatt to Chandrayaan 2 is full of ups and downs. Thousands of scientists worked continuously for making India a pioneer in Space Programs.
Bharat Ratna A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Nandini Harinath, Udupi Ramachandra Rao and Homibhabah are some world-famous space scientists. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam is called Missile Man of India who made India self-dependent in missile technology. He started an integrated missile system for India. Mission Shakti of India which made India 4th Country of the world. The anti-satellite missile has the capability to destroy any satellite which makes India a superpower in the space arena.
India is the first country in the world who reached Mars orbit on its first attempt, Mars Orbiter Mission, on 5 November 2013. Mean while Indian Scientists are working on Gaganyaan Mission by which human will send to space till 2022. Mission Aditya is India’s first dedicated mission which will study the outer core of Sun. That is a Coincidence that Chandrayaan 2 mission is in the space to touch the south pole of the moon. And on earth, we are all celebrating 100th Birthday of Father of Space program. ISRO named Vikram of its one lander of Chandrayaan.
